Gary Rowett wanted to reunite with his former Birmingham City keeper Tomasz Kuszczak at Pride Park but Championship giants Derby County could be disappointed.

With less than 12 hours to go before the close of the January transfer window, Derby County are still on the lookout for a back-up goalkeeper.
But a deal to bring Tomasz Kuszczak to Pride Park from Rowett’s former club Birmingham City appears to be dead in the water.

It is understood that the Derby boss had attempted a reunion with the veteran Pole, who starred during the 43-year-old’s two year spell in charge of The Blues.
But despite Kuszczak losing his place between the sticks to summer signing David Stockdale, the Mirror add that Birmingham have point-blank refused to let the former Manchester United goalkeeper leave for the East Midlands this month.
This is despite Kuszczak making it clear that he would be open to the idea of swapping Birmingham for Derby before the end of the transfer window.

But it now appears unlikely that Derby will be bringing in any new additions this week, meaning Rowett will be praying that the evergreen Carson remains fit for the rest of the season.
As it stands, Derby are second in the Championship but just three points above Bristol City in fifth.
