Lukas Fabianski and Alfie Mawson both allegedly want to leave Swansea City after their Premier League relegation with West Ham United reportedly keen.
West Ham United seem to be stepping up their pursuit of new signings but they will not be able to land Swansea City duo Lukas Fabianski and Alfie Mawson on the cheap.
According to Wales Online, the Hammers have made bids for the goalkeeper and the centre-back although both have been rejected by relegated Swansea. It is understood that the offers were considered to be well below the Swans’ valuation of arguably their two top performers last season.
It is not known how much West Ham had offered for Fabianski and Mawson, but the Guardian recently claimed that Fabianski would cost around £5 million with just a year left on his contract while Mawson should command a fee around the £20 million mark.
Both players have reportedly told Swansea that they are keen to leave this summer to continue their careers in the Premier League and would be solid additions for a West Ham side who have underachieved in recent years.
33-year-old Fabianski, Swansea’s reigning Player of the Season, would provide a solid presence in goal that the Hammers lacked last season with Joe Hart and Adrian failing to convince on a regular basis.
Mawson, meanwhile, is one of England’s most talented young centre-backs and would be a massive upgrade on James Collins, who was released recently after ten years of service.
But if West Ham want to conclude this double deal, a combined fee of around £25 million might be required.
