Hakim Ziyech has produced goals prolifically with FC Twente in Holland and new reports suggest Swansea could bring him to the Premier League.
Ajax’s humiliating defeat in the Champions League qualifying rounds has given Swansea City a huge boost in their pursuit of Moroccan playmaker Hakim Ziyech.
The Dutch giants, who missed out on the Eredivisie title on the final day to rivals PSV last season, were humiliated 4-1 by FC Rostov last week, consigning Peter Bosz’s side to the Europa League for the second season in a row.
And, according to Voetbal International, this may have pushed Swansea ahead of the four time European Cup winners, with FC Twente attacker Ziyech concerned about Ajax’s increasing stagnation.
The Swans have earned just three points from a possible nine at the start of this season, scoring only twice in that time despite the high profile arrival of former Spain international striker Fernando Llorente (below).
According to Squawka, Francesco Guidolin’s (below) side have created more clear chances (39) than any other team bar Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in 2016/17, but Ziyech’s arrival should help transform potential into prolificity.
The 23-year-old, who has also been linked with Schalke and Sampdoria in recent months, scored or assisted 54 league goals in the last two seasons for FC Twente, single handedly keeping afloat a side beset by huge financial problems.
