Championship duo Swansea City and Rotherham United are reportedly interested in signing Ayr United’s Scottish Championship star Lawrence Shankland.

Swansea City have been in talks to sign the prolific Ayr United striker Lawrence Shankland, according to the Sun (18 February, page 61).
Shankland has been in remarkable form this season, scoring 30 goals in all competitions with Ayr sitting second in the Scottish Championship with an historic promotion to the top flight in their sights.
The chances of the 23-year-old playing Premiership football with Ayr next season, however, look slim. Shankland’s contract runs out in the summer and he is attracting serious interest from south of the border.
Swansea were linked during the January transfer window and it seems that they are still interested, the Sun reporting that they are holding talks over a bargain deal to bring the Scotland U21 international to the Liberty Stadium.

Graham Potter’s side have often struggled to turn chances into goals this season and you would think that Shankland would go a long way to solving the issue.
The Sun adds that Rotherham United have offered Shankland a contract ahead of the 2019/20 season but it remains to be seen if they can match the terms put on the table by Swansea.
