Sporting Lisbon striker Seydou Doumbia flopped at Newcastle United but could have a second chance in the Premier League with Swansea City.
Seydou Doumbia’s last spell in the Premier League did not exactly go to plan, but he might get a second chance to prove himself in English football.
It is understood that Sporting are willing to listen to offers for the 30-year-old, who has started just four Primeira Liga fixtures for Jorge Jesus’s side this season. And Swansea could get their man, so long as they are willing to meet the £6 million asking price.
Now, a new striker may be a priority for Swansea this summer. Tammy Abraham is set to return to Chelsea when his loan deal expires while Wilfried Bony looks a shadow of the player who averaged one-in-two during his first spell in South Wales.
But Doumbia would arrive at the Liberty Stadium under plenty of scrutiny on the back of a dreadful loan spell at Newcastle United from Roma during the 2015/16 season.
He made just three substitute appearances, totalling 29 minutes, and failed to score a single goal as the Magpies were relegated from the Premier League.
