Connor Roberts has started 17 Championship games for Graham Potter’s Swansea City this season but is his future at the Liberty Stadium?
Swansea City fans have been less than impressed with the lack of investment in the squad over the last few seasons; a factor that certainly contributed to their relegation from the Premier League in May.
The one upside is that the dearth of big-money new signings has opened the door for a number of homegrown youngsters, including Joe Rodon, Daniel James and Connor Roberts.
The latter has been particularly impressive this season, establishing himself as the Swans’ first-choice right-back and starting 17 games in the Championship for Graham Potter’s side.
But whether his long-term future is at the Liberty Stadium remains to be seen. The Sun (12 November, page 62) reports that Roberts is out of contract at the end of this season, and there are no signs yet that he will sign an extension.
As a result, the Sun adds that Swansea might be forced to sell the 23-year-old in January as they are struggling to keep him in South Wales.
This would be a big blow for Swansea given how far Roberts, who scored his first Wales goal in his sixth international cap in September, has come since making his professional debut just ten months ago.
