West Ham United were keen to take Russian international striker Fyodor Smolov to the Premier League but Swansea City have now entered the race.

West Ham United’s links with Russian international striker Fyodor Smolov have gone a little cold, but that does not mean the FC Krasnodar star definitely will not be playing Premier League football next month.
The Hammers had been in talks to sign the so-called ‘Russian David Beckham’ but the Guardian claimed on Tuesday that David Moyes’ side were not confident of striking a deal to bring Smolov to the London Stadium.
Although their loss could be Swansea City’s gain.

It is understood that Swansea have now made a bid of around £15 million to sign the versatile 27-year-old. Yet a deal will be easier said than done as the Mail claims Smolov has his reservations about moving to the Liberty Stadium but was keen on a switch to London.
Smolov is certainly a late-bloomer. He has scored more goals in the last two-and-a-half years since moving to Krasnodar than he had throughout the entire rest of his career.

The Russia captain has 58 in 90 games for the club and will be carrying the nation’s hopes on his shoulders as the festival of football heads to Eastern Europe.
But it appears that Swansea have a long way to go before they can call Smolov one of their own.
