Sunderland were among a number of Championship clubs keen to sign Leicester City’s Andy King but Premier League side Swansea City are making a move.
Andy King’s continued lack of game time at Leicester City has not gone unnoticed.
Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Bristol City are also interested but King would be a dream signing for the Black Cats at this stage of the transfer window.
He would not only be cheap with Leicester seemingly willing to let him leave on loan, but has proved himself in the second tier over a number of years. The Welsh international was a key figure as the Foxes won the Championship title in 2013/14.
But it appears that King has also been offered the chance to stay in the Premier League with just hours remaining in the transfer window.
The Mail (live transfer blog, 1.02pm) claims that Swansea City are in talks about signing the 29-year-old, although it has not yet been confirmed whether Carlos Carvalhal’s side would want to sign King on loan or in a permanent deal.
While King has scored just six goals in his three-and-a-half Premier League seasons, he was a real goal-scoring midfielder in the Championship and should prove a solid addition for a Swansea side lacking attacking threat in the centre of the park.
And you could understand if King would rather sign for a resurgent Swansea side than fight for Championship survival with Sunderland.
