Ayr United talisman Lawrence Shankland could be reportedly heading to the Championship with Graham Potter’s Swansea City.

Goals have been a problem for Swansea City this season.
Graham Potter’s side have scored just 22 times in 20 Championship games so far, a less than inspiring record that looks likely to undermine any hopes they might have had of an immediate return to the Premier League.
So what better way to solve the problem than by purchasing a striker who has hit the net 26 times in 23 games already this season?
According to The Mail, the prolific Ayr United forward is closing in on a move to Swansea – but there is a twist. Ayr are top of the Scottish Championship table and, the report adds, The Swans may loan him back to his current club for the second half of the season in order to sweeten the deal.
Shankland is out of contract in the summer but Ayr manager Ian McCall has admitted that he’d rather lose his star man on a free than earn a few hundred thousand in the January transfer window.

So Swansea will likely be forced to wait before they can see the Glasgow-born 23-year-old in action.
The Sun (23 September, page 61), claimed that Sunderland, Hull City and Wigan Athletic were also interested in signing Scotland U21 international Shankland.
