Leeds United were reportedly keen to land ex-Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Sean Clare but he will reportedly be playing for Swansea City.

The race for Sean Clare appears to have been won. And Swansea City are set to be rewarded with one of the most promising midfield talents outside the Premier League.
According to Sky Sports, the Swans have beaten off competition from Leeds United to sign the 21-year-old, who is a free agent after leaving Sheffield Wednesday earlier in the summer.
TEAMtalk had reported on Wednesday that Marcelo Bielsa’s side, who sold Ronaldo Vieira to Sampdoria and lost Adam Forshaw to injury last week, were keen to sign the highly-rated Clare. And the report even suggested that talks had been held.
Sky claims that Swansea boss Graham Potter also met up with Clare earlier this month and it seems that he has chosen the Liberty Stadium as his preferred destination. As he is without a club, the South Wales side will be able to complete the deal after the transfer window shuts on Thursday.

And this is a blow to Leeds. Clare’s energy and composure in possession appeared to make him an ideal fit for Marcelo Bielsa’s innovative style of football.
TEAMtalk added that Aston Villa were set to sign Clare at the start of the summer, only for the club’s financial crisis to scupper the deal. Their loss is Swansea’s gain.
