Belgian champions Club Brugge have reportedly had a bid rejected for Costa Rican World Cup ace Bryan Oviedo but the League One club are willing to sell.
Bryan Oviedo looks to have played his last game for Sunderland.
The Mirror (live blog, 7.24pm) reported in June that The Black Cats have told the left-back he can leave the Stadium of Light this summer with his wages understood to be too high for a club who will play League One football next season.
And Oviedo could be set for a massive step forward, swapping the English third tier for a club in the Champions League.
According to Costa Rican publication Bola Vip, Club Brugge are very interested in signing the former Everton flyer. And it is understood that Oviedo himself is interested in a move to Belgium, particularly as reigning Jupiler League champions Brugge will be included in the Champions League group-stages in 2018/19.
It is understood that Brugge had a bid of around £2.2 million turned down by the Black Cats. But, Bola Vip add, they are expected to make a new offer sooner rather than later and Sunderland would be willing to accept £3 million, ensuring they make a healthy profit on a player they signed from Everton in January 2017.
Oviedo was one of Costa Rica’s standout performers as they were knocked out in the group stage of the World Cup this summer, impressing in a 2-0 defeat to Brazil.
