Premier League giants Manchester United could loan Cameron Borthwick-Jackson out again with League One Sunderland reportedly keen.
Sunderland’s relationship with Manchester United has come in very handy over the years, with plenty of players swapping Old Trafford for the Stadium of Light.
Borthwick-Jackson has been made available for a season-long loan having spent the last two campaigns at Leeds United and Wolves and a move to Wearside is now on the cards.
The Manchester-born 21-year-old is a left-back by trade but he can also play at centre-half, which will give new Sunderland boss Jack Ross some much needed depth in defence.
The Sunderland Echo adds that Bryan Oviedo – the Costa Rica international who is one of the club’s higher earners – is expected to depart when he returns from the World Cup. This will open up space in the squad for a new left-sided defender, which means Borthwick-Jackson’s arrival would tick a lot of boxes.
The England U20 ace appears to still be highly-rated at Old Trafford, with United reluctant to sell him permanently. He made a number of first-team appearances during the 2015/16 season under Louis Van Gaal, featuring ten times in the Premier League.
