Andrew Nelson is expected to leave League One challengers Sunderland in the January transfer window, with English and Scottish clubs interested.

Who knows, perhaps Andrew Nelson would have been a first-team regular for Sunderland right now if it was not for a serious foot injury he suffered at the end of a promising pre-season.
Manager Jack Ross has already admitted that the ill-timed blow scuppered Nelson’s chances of making a long-awaited first-team debut. And, according to the Sunderland Echo, the 21-year-old is now likely to leave Wearside on loan in January in order to help him get back to full fitness.
And there is no shortage of interest.
The Echo claims that Nelson has caught the eye of clubs in the bottom half of the Scottish top flight and also the Scottish Championship. Furthermore, teams in League One and Two are allegedly interested in signing the highly-rated Sunderland forward.

Between now and January, however, Nelson is set to join North East outfit Darlington on a short-term deal, with players able to join non-league clubs outside the transfer window.
If all goes to plan, the local lad will return to the Stadium of Light in a month with his form and fitness back.
Nelson spent the second half of last season on loan at Falkirk, scoring four goals in 12 games in Scotland’s second tier.
