George Dobson could be about to replace Lee Cattermole at Sunderland and he might just be perfect for Jack Ross’s Black Cats.

Sunderland are set to reinforce their midfield with the signing of Walsall captain George Dobson, according to the Northern Echo.
There is certainly a place in the Black Cats’ engine room for a tigerish enforcer and a natural-born leader after the departure of long-serving skipper Lee Cattermole.
And Dobson ticks plenty of boxes. At just 21, he is already wearing the armband at Walsall, though his time at the Bescot Stadium could be coming to an end after The Saddlers were relegated from League One last season.
The Northern Echo believes that the one-time Arsenal and West Ham youngster is on the verge of signing for Sunderland with the Wearside giants locked in talks with Walsall.

The London-born youngster certainly caught the eye with his energetic and tenacious performances against Sunderland in League One last season.
He’s an excellent passer of the ball and tough in the tackle while his box-to-box style could fill the void left by the departure of the influential Cattermole. Dobson is capable of playing in a deeper role too if required, meaning he could also help dictate the tempo after the potentail departure of Dylan McGeouch.
And this looks like the sort of affordable, intelligent signing Sunderland need if they are to remain at the top of the League One table while trimming their wage bill substantially.
