Tom Pearce has been linked with Barnsley and Wigan Athletic but League One Sunderland also want a Championship left-back.

Sunderland have shown an interest in Leeds United left-back Tom Pearce, according to the Chronicle.
This season is make-or-break for not only Jack Ross but Sunderland as a whole. With the financial problems spiralling behind the scenes, the Black Cats really can’t afford another season in the third tier of English football – quite literally.
But Sunderland are in danger of going into the new season without an established option at left-back.
After cashing in on the high-earning Bryan Oviedo, the unproven Denver Hume has been forced to step up despite making just a smattering of senior appearances so far.
So this explains why Sunderland have expressed a desire to bring Pearce to the Stadium of Light.

But Ross and co will have to act fast as Barnsley, who sealed promotion to the Championship in May at the expense of The Black Cats, keen set to snap up yet another player from their Yorkshire neighbours.
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, The Tykes are keen though Wigan Athletic are also moving to agree a £250,000 deal.
A quarter of a million, however, represents a real bargain for a 21-year-old left-back with real quality. Can Sunderland get better for such a price?
