Manchester United are open to selling Adnan Januzaj after a disastrous season with Sunderland though Marseille may offer big money.
It appears that Adnan Januzaj’s reputation has survived a calamitous loan spell at Sunderland.
Because The Chronicle reports that the Belgian is on the radar of French giants Marseille – soon to be one of the most exciting clubs in European football.
ESPN reported earlier in the week that Manchester United were ready to cash in on Januzaj after he failed to impress in consecutive loans at Borussia Dortmund and the Stadium of Light.
The 22-year-old scored just once in Sunderland colours, in an EFL Cup win against Shrewsbury Town to boot, as they finished bottom of the Premier League. He was even booed off by Black Cats supporters in a late-season clash with Watford.
So much for a reunion with former Manchester United boss Davis Moyes, who handed Januzaj his chance in 2013, rejuvenating the winger’s career.
Yet, despite failing to show any sort of character, or for the most part quality, at the Stadium of Light, Januzaj could be on his way to one of the continent’s most ambitious clubs.
The Chronicle reports that Marseille would be willing to meet United’s valuation of between £8 and £13 million. The 1993 Champions League winners clearly aren’t afraid to splash the cash having paid big money for Dimitri Payet, Morgan Sansone and former Newcastle United flop Florian Thauvin since January.

And although Marseille haven’t stepped foot in Europe’s premiere club competition since crashing out in the group stages in 2013, it appears that their exile will not go on for much longer.
After a disappointing few seasons stuck in mid-table, new American owner Frank McCourt has promised to turn the club back into a continental force by investing £180 million in the next four years.
“We’re going to put our club back on the road to glory,” he said, as reported by the BBC.
Sunderland fans may be nonplussed as to why Januzaj would be hand-picked to lead such a revolution.
