Lamine Kone and Didier Ndong want to escape the Championship amid reported interest from top flight duo Everton and Watford.
Sunderland are desperate to sell both Lamine Kone and Didier Ndong this month to raise money for some much-needed reinforcements.
And, fortunately, The Chronicle reports that the high-earning duo would be more than happy to escape the Stadium of Light. It is understood that there is interest from the Premier League in Kone and Ndong, and they both want to make the move back to the top flight in January.
Kone has been linked with a move away almost every transfer window since trying to force through a move to Everton in the summer of 2016. The Ivorian centre-back was linked again with the Toffees back in December by the Mirror, with Sunderland willing to let him leave for a fraction of the £18 million Everton were quoted a year-and-a-half ago.
Everton manager Sam Allardyce is a big fan of the centre-back, who played a huge role as the 63-year-old’s Sunderland side remarkably escaped from relegation during the 2015/16 season.
Ndong, too, has not really made an impact since Sunderland dropped down to the Championship. The club-record signing, who moved to the Stadium of Light for £13.5 million from Lorient, is reportedly interesting Watford, according to The Observer.
Sunderland, however, would have to accept a rather substantial loss with the Hornets willing to offer around £8 million for the inconsistent Gabonese midfielder.
But with the Black Cats crying out for funds, it is likely that they will accept cut-price deals for two of the club’s more sell-able assets.
