Could Dimi Konstantopoulos make the short journey to League One Sunderland after his six-year spell at Boro came to an end?

Sunderland could move to sign veteran goalkeeper Dimi Konstantopoulos this summer once his contract at local rivals Middlesbrough comes to an end, according to the Northern Echo.
Scotland international Jon McLaughlin has comfortably established himself as Sunderland’s number one after an impressive debut season at the Stadium of Light.
But the Black Cats will need to sign a new back-up with Dutchman Robbin Ruiter expected to leave on a free transfer after a year of warming the bench under Jack Ross.
And, according to the Northern Echo, Sunderland are considering a shock approach for 41-year-old Dimi as the one-time Greek international looks to extend his 23-year playing career.

Dimi has spent the last six seasons a few miles down the road at Middlesbrough, making 112 appearances for the club – although he hasn’t played a league game since the 2015/16 season.
He has been informed that Boro have no intention of extending a contract that will expire at the end of next month but Dimi could be offered the chance to stay in the North East by a Sunderland side who are putting together a squad capable of securing promotion back to the Championship.
