Newcastle United are reportedly desperate to bring Porto’s Brahimi to the Premier League, which could force Perez to La Liga outfit Real Betis.

Just how on earth are Newcastle United supposed to secure top class signings when the money is so tight at St James’ Park? Well, Yacine Brahimi’s contract situation has certainly opened up a very attractive window of opportunity for Rafa Benitez.

It is well documented that the Algerian international is out of contract at the end of this season and, after a couple of stellar seasons with FC Porto, a move to the Premier League could be on the cards.

El Gol Digital reports that Newcastle are desperate to sign Brahimi on the cheap in the winter. The former Granada dribbler scored 12 goals and set up 10 more last season, inspiring Porto to their first league title in five years, and is exactly the sort of game-changing talent who could galvanise Newcastle and drag them away from the Premier League relegation zone.

El Gol Digital adds, however, that the arrival of Brahimi will cast doubt on the future of Ayoze Perez – the man who could lose his place in the starting XI to the French-born attacker.

The same publication claimed in May that Real Betis had approached Newcastle about potentially signing the former Tenerife youngster, and it is understood that manager Quique Setien has made him a priority once more.

The hope is that Perez will be available should Brahimi become arguably Newcastle’s biggest signing in years.
