Wolverhampton Wanderers are yet to decide on the futures of Rafa Mir and Roderick Miranda, according to the Birmingham Mail, with the club fully aware that they will need a bigger squad if they are to compete on both domestic and European fronts next season.
Wolves will be playing Europa League football in 2019/20 if Manchester City beat Watford in Saturday’s FA Cup final.
While that would be an incredible achievement for the team on their first season back in the Premier League, the prospect of an increased fixture list could cause problems for Nuno, a manager who prefers to work with a tight-knit group of players.
As a result, Wolves may be forced to give a second chance to some of their forgotten men. Mir and Miranda will return to Molineux after spells at Las Palmas and Olympiakos and the Birmingham Mail suggests that they might have a role to play.
Wolves beat Real Madrid to the £2 million signing of Valencia wonder-kid Mir in January 2018, but he played just 29 minutes of league football under Nuno before returning to Spain. An impressive season at Las Palmas, however, has reminded everyone of the 21-year-old’s potential.
Miranda cost £2.5 million, according to the Sun, but struggled before being farmed out to Olympiakos, where he finished second in the Super League and made six Europa League appearances.
