Scottish Premiership champions Celtic could lose captain Scott Brown, with A-League newcomers Western Melbourne seeing him as a marquee signing.

The future of Celtic captain Scott Brown has been the subject of plenty of discussion in recent weeks.
It is well documented that the 33-year-old is entering the final few months of his current contract, with a new deal yet to be agreed.
And the fact that Celtic have gone from strength to strength in recent weeks with Brown out of the side due to injury has seemingly cast doubt on whether the veteran midfielder still has a big part to play for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
The Mail reported back in October that Western Melbourne wanted to take Brown Down Under and make him their marquee signing, if they were given permission to join the A-League as part of the division’s expansion that is.
And, on Thursday, Western Melbourne’s hopes of luring the former Scotland skipper to the land of Oz were handed a substantial boost.

As reported by the Daily Record, Western Melbourne have been successful in their attempts to earn a place in the A-League, meaning they will be playing in the top tier of Australian football next season.
As a result, the newly formed side are now set to ramp up their attempts to end Brown’s trophy-laden Celtic career with influential agent Lou Sticca, who was a major part of the Western Melbourne consortium, admitting that he plans to offer the midfielder a big-money contract.
