Aitor Karanka has not held back in his raid on former club Middlesbrough.

Nottingham Forest have been linked with a whole host of Boro stars in recent months from Grant Leadbitter to Adam Clayton, Fabio da Silva to Daniel Ayala. One player who seems unlikely to be reuniting with Karanka at the City Ground, however, is Patrick Bamford.

TEAMtalk claimed last month that Forest, who are crying out for a proven goal-scorer, have made an £8 million bid for Bamford, who started his footballing career at the former European champions before making a move to Chelsea.

But the report adds that Forest would need to double their bid to £16 million to even make Boro think about selling.

And latest reports provided by the Northern Echo suggest that Forest are wasting their time continuing their pursuit of Bamford.

It is understood that current Boro boss Tony Pulis is a big fan of the gifted 24-year-old, who is a big part of his plans at the Riverside going forward. The versatile forward shone in the second half of last season once Pulis replaced Garry Monk at Christmas, ending the season with 11 goals in 23 starts.

The Northern Echo adds that Middlesbrough hope to keep Bamford and will not be encouraging any bids from Nottingham Forest for a player who won the Championship’s Player of the Year award under Karanka in 2016.
