Newcastle United are reportedly keen on Middlesbrough winger Adama Traore.

Middlesbrough missed out on a return to the Premier League after losing a tight play-off semi-final to Aston Villa. And this could see a number of their star players leave the Riverside in pursuit of top flight football.

According to the Yorkshire Post, Middlesbrough are braced for offers for the rapid winger Adama Traore, who could be available for cheaper than expected.

The Mirror (6 May, page 70) reported that Everton and Newcastle United were keen on the former Barcelona youngster.

And the Yorkshire Post states that Traore is valued at around £15 million, which should surely increase the risk of a Premier League club coming in for him this summer, especially as previous reports suggested he would cost around double that.

The 22-year-old, who moved to Boro in 2016 from Aston Villa in a swap deal involving Albert Adomah, scored five goals and set up ten more in the Championship last season.

And while it is perhaps doubtful whether he is good enough for a top-six club, Traore’s rapid pace and improving end-product would make him a fine addition for Newcastle.

The Magpies have lacked a little creativity since returning to the Premier League, with Rafa Benitez’s side built around a strong defence and organisation. And Traore would be an immediate replacement for the departed Chelsea loanee Kenedy.

The Yorkshire Post adds that Newcastle are the latest side to show an interest, and losing a star player to their local rivals would rub salt into Middlesbrough’s wounds.
