Martin O’Neill reportedly wants to reunite with Stoke City winger James McClean at Championship play-off hopefuls Nottingham Forest.

If there is any manager who knows how good James McClean can be, it is Martin O’Neill.
The hard-working winger played arguably the best football of his career under the 66-year-old O’Neill at Sunderland and with the Republic of Ireland national team.
And, according to the Sun (19 January, page 67) a reunion could be on the cards with O’Neill hoping to bring McClean to Nottingham Forest before the end of the month.
The 29-year-old is currently playing for Championship rivals Stoke City and produced his sixth assist of a productive season in Saturday’s hard-fought 2-1 win against Leeds United, Nathan Jones’ first victory in charge of The Potters.
And, according to the Irish Independent, Stoke could look to recoup the £5 million they invested in McClean if they are to cash in after just six months.

The report adds that O’Neill is planning to push through a move for the former West Brom forward this week but it remains unclear how much Forest are prepared to pay.
The East Midland giants have already signed one player since O’Neill returned to the City Ground last week, landing seldom-seen Leicester City defender Yohan Benalouane.
