Everton have been linked with Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho for two years but he’s moving to La Liga with Real Betis.

Everton’s links with William Carvalho go back two years.
The Toffees have continued to be linked ever since and the appointment of Marco Silva as the new man in the dugout only added to the speculation. The 41-year-old managed Carvalho during his time in charge of Sporting Lisbon after all.
But it seems that Everton’s long-running hopes of bringing Carvalho to Merseyside are now over.
Record stated that Everton were keen to hijack Carvalho’s move to La Liga outfit Real Betis just three days ago. But the report added that they were under pressure to get rid of a few midfielders first, which did not leave them much room to manoeuvre.
And, as it transpires, a last-gasp, eleventh hour swoop proved beyond Everton.

Record is now claiming that the 26-year-old has said yes to a move to Real Betis and a deal could be completed on Thursday. Landing a fully-fledged Portuguese international is a massive coup for Betis, a club on the up after years of hardship and who will be playing Europa League football next season.
To make matters even more frustrating for Everton, Carvalho is unlikely to cost Betis anything after terminating his contract with Sporting.
