Scottish Premiership giants Celtic want Manchester City youngster Angus Gunn after a fine spell in the Championship with Norwich.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers arrives prior to the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and Motherwell at Celtic Park on December 2, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

No one really knows who will be Celtic’s number one goalkeeper next season.

35-year-old Craig Gordon returned from three months out injured and shone during the 4-0 Scottish Cup semi-final hammering of Rangers on Sunday, proving once and for all that age is just a number.

But The Hoops have still been linked with a number of custodians of late. The Sun (15th April, page 61) states Celtic will renew their interest in January target and Motherwell Player of the Year Trevor Carson and Sheffield Wednesday’s Kieren Westwood is on their radar too.

The Scottish Sun, meanwhile, claims that a permanent deal for Dundee loanee Scott Bain is on the cards when he becomes a free agent in the summer.

But one goalkeeper that has been linked with a move to Parkhead of late looks likely to pass them by.

The Sun claimed in March that Celtic had their eye on the Norwich City loanee Angus Gunn, who has been so impressive since moving to Carrow Road on loan from Manchester City that he was handed his first England call-up back in November.

It is understood that Celtic would have wanted to sign the 22-year-old on loan, with Gunn following in the footsteps of fellow Manchester City youngsters Jason Denayer, John Guidetti and Patrick Roberts.

The Pink ‘Un, however, suggests a move to Scotland is unlikely because Gunn is set to return to The Etihad this summer before embarking on a temporary move to a mid-level Premier League club in order to further his international ambitions.

Perhaps Gunn has taken note of Scott Sinclair’s ongoing omission from the England set-up despite his excellent form in Scotland in Celtic colours.
