Aston Villa’s defeat in the Championship play-off final means they may have to sell some key players with Hogan and Jedinak possibly on their way out.

Aston Villa have already lost captain John Terry as the reality of another season in the Championship starts to hit home, and loanees Robert Snodgrass, Sam Johnstone and Lewis Grabban are set to follow the 37-year-old out the door.
Villa could not afford to lose the play-off final with Financial Fair Play sanctions hanging over the Midland giants. But, after Tom Cairney’s winner at Wembley fired Fulham into the Premier League instead, the Birmingham Mail claims that stricken Villa suddenly find themselves under pressure to raise £40 million as soon as possible.

As reported by the Mirror (live blog, 8.59am), Mile Jedinak and Scott Hogan are both on a yearly wage of around £2 million – figures that Villa, quite literally, cannot afford with the threat of FFP sanctions very real indeed.
So, along with Grealish, it would be no surprise of Jedinak and Hogan were both made available this summer.

Former Crystal Palace skipper Jedinak should not be short of offers, especially after his fantastic performances against Middlesbrough in the play-off semi-finals.
Hogan, meanwhile, has scored just seven league goals in 51 games for Villa so the chances of them recouping anywhere near the £12 million they paid Brentford back in January last year seem very unlikely.
