Championship leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers have been linked with a surprise move to lure Inter Milan striker Andrea Pinamonti from Serie A to Molineux.
Almost every player linked with a move to Molineux these days has been on the radar of a number of European giants.
And it is no different with Andrea Pinamonti. Gazzetta dello Sport (10th January, page 15) reported that Wolves have stepped up their pursuit of Inter Milan striker Andrea Pinamonti.
And today’s version of the paper (page 20) has provided an update on the 18-year-old’s immediate future at the San Siro.
The report states that Inter are indeed willing to let Pinamonti leave this month, but only on loan. With the 18-year-old’s contract due to run until 2021, the Nerrazzuri have no need, or reason, to cash in on arguably their brightest young talent.
This could essentially rule out his big-name suitors. After all, if Inter are going to let Pinamonti leave on a temporary basis, they will want him to go to a club where he would not struggle for game time.
Perhaps this means Wolves are still in with a shout, as Leo Bonatini is the only proven centre-forward on the club’s books. Wolves signed Rafa Mir, another highly-rated young striker, from Valencia last week so Pinamonti would be competing with the Spaniard for a place in the side.
But with interest from several clubs in Italy’s top two divisions, including Cagliari, Sassuolo and Crotone, it probably makes more sense for both Pinamonti and Inter for the teenager to stay in his homeland.
