Another former Liverpool man, Gregory Vignal will join Gary McAllister on Steven Gerrard’s coaching staff at Scottish Premiership giants Rangers.

Steven Gerrard shakes hands with Dave King as he is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Steven Gerrard has wasted no time in putting together his coaching staff at Rangers.

The 37-year-old was surprisingly unveiled as Rangers’ new manager last week and immediately brought his former Liverpool team-mate Gary McAllister with him to Ibrox as his assistant.

And The Scottish Sun is reporting that another former Anfield hero is set for a position in Gerrard’s plans.

It is understood that Gregory Vignal, who is already an academy coach at Rangers who has been turning heads thanks to his work with the U14s, is set for a bigger role behind the scenes at Ibrox.

The 36-year-old is a highly rated young coach who knows both Gerrard and Rangers well. Vignal played alongside Gerrard at Liverpool in the early 2000s and had a loan spell with The Light Blues back in 2004/05.

Interestingly, Vignal told The Herald recently that he has ambitions of being a first-team manager himself one day – and admitted that he dreams of sitting on the Ibrox dugout as the main man in the future.

The former France U21 defender also claimed that he learned a lot from Rafael Benitez in his time on the red half of Merseyside.

And Gerrard will be hoping that Vignal’s expertise and insight will come in handy as he aims to succeed where Murty and Pedro Caixinha failed and restore Rangers to their former glory.
