The future of Leonardo Ulloa at Premier League giants Leicester City remains uncertain but what is clear is that Steve Bruce wants him at Aston Villa.
Will Leonardo Ulloa be an Aston Villa player this time next month? As it stands, it appears that there is a lot of reasons why this transfer might not happen.
For one, Financial Fair Play restrictions are limiting Villa to short-term loans this month and how would Leicester possibly benefit by letting a 31-year-old leave on a temporary basis until the end of the season?
According to Marca, there are at least three La Liga clubs rivalling Villa for the former Almeria striker. And as reported by the Sun (11th January, page 50), Leicester are unlikely to let Ulloa go if they sell Islam Slimani this month.
Although Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce will be crossing his fingers and praying that the stars will align.
After all, Bruce has been attempting to bring Ulloa to the Midlands since at least last year, with this the third transfer window in succession that he has made the Argentine a target, as reported by the Birmingham Mail.
And with the Birmingham Mail stating that Ulloa is keen to leave the King Power Stadium after failing to start a league game all season, it suggests that he would be interested in a move to Villa Park. The question, however, is whether finances or the future of Slimani will render the deal impossible once again.
Yet if Villa do get their man at last, they will be signing a striker with a proven Championship record who scored one in two on average for Brighton between 2012 and 2014.
