Crystal Palace were reportedly hoping to lure De Mooij to the Premier League from 2017 Eredivisie champions Feyenoord but he’s staying in Holland.

Frank de Boer may no longer be at the helm of Crystal Palace but the Londoners are still looking to Holland to sign some stars of the future.

According to Voetbal International, Palace were hoping to bring the highly-rated Feyenoord midfielder Splinter de Mooij to Selhurst Park this summer. But the youngster has now decided to commit his future to the Eredivisie giants instead, signing a new deal until 2021.

And De Mooij is obviously thrilled to learn that the 2017 Dutch champions have such faith in him.

“I’ve learned an incredible amount from the Feyenoord coaches in recent years,” he told FR-Fans.

“That my hard work is rewarded with a contract is absolutely beautiful.”

De Mooij is yet to make his mark in the first-team at De Kuip but with manager Giovanni Van Bronckhorst showing a commendable faith in youth since taking charge in 2015 it seems that a role in the senior side is certainly on the cards.

In truth, De Mooij might have found first-team football harder to come by at Crystal Palace. Roy Hodgson’s side reinforced their midfield with the signings of Max Meyer (below) from Schalke and Cheikhou Kouyate from West Ham United over the summer.
