Southampton are set to lose Dusan Tadic despite retaining their Premier League status, with a move to Eredivisie club Ajax reportedly close.
Southampton might have retained their Premier League status by the skin of their teeth last season but that does not appear enough to keep Dusan Tadic at St Mary’s.
The Serbian winger has been linked with a move away from the Saints for a number of months and it seems that the former FC Twente star could be set for a shock return to Holland with Eredivisie giants Ajax.
It is understood that directors Marc Overmars and Joroen Slop both flew to Southampton to discuss a move to the Dutch capital with Tadic and the transfer could now be completed within a couple of days.
The report adds that Ajax will have to pay £15 million for Tadic, which would make him their all-time record signing.
Losing the 29-year-old could be a big blow to Southampton, though, after Tadic played an influential role in their fight against relegation last season.
It was his brace in the 2-1 win against local rivals Bournemouth in late April that set Mark Hughes’ side en route to survival.
