Haris Seferovic’s 23 Primeira Liga goals fired Benfica to the title but could he make a big impact in the Premier League with Southampton?

Southampton are looking to sign Swiss international striker Haris Seferovic this summer, according to Record.
The Saints narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League last season and Ralph Hasenhuttl will be under no illusions that he needs to add some firepower to his rather blunt attack. Southampton scored just 45 goals in 38 games in 2018/19.
And Seferovic looks like a potentially inspired addition after he fired Benfica to the Primeira Liga title with the best goalscoring season of his entire career.
He netted 27 times in all competitions, including 23 in the league as Bruno Lage’s side wrestled the domestic crown back off bitter rivals Porto. This is the first time Seferovic had broken the 20-goal barrier in a single season.

His previous career-best was 11, accumulated during the 2014/15 campaign at Eintracht Frankfurt. The 27-year-old has also represented Real Sociedad and Fiorentina while earning 59 caps for Switzerland, appearing in two World Cups.
Seferovic, who has been linked with plenty of other Premier League clubs down the years, has a £53 million release clause in his contract but Benfica would surely listen to much lower offers.
