Southampton reportedly want to enhance their attack with Red Star Belgrade’s Richmond Boakye and Lille’s Ligue 1 star Pepe.

Mark Hughes, Manager of Southampton looks on priort to the Premier League match between Everton and Southampton at Goodison Park on May 5, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

Goals were a massive problem for Southampton last season and nearly cost the Saints their Premier League status. And the issue has not exactly gone away in the opening weeks of the current campaign.

Mark Hughes’ side have scored just six goals in six games and Danny Ings has netted half of those. Southampton looked toothless in attack when the former Burnley man was absent against parent club Liverpool in Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Anfield.

So it is no wonder the South Coast side are already planning for the January transfer window. According to the Sun, Hughes wants to improve his attack with Richmond Boakye and Nicolas Pepe two players under consideration.

It is claimed that Southampton scouted Ghana intentional Boakye on Sunday as he scored in Red Star Belgrade’s 1-1 derby draw against Partizan. The former Juventus striker returned to Serbia in the summer after a disappointing spell in China.

He scored a remarkable 42 goals for club and country in 2017 alone.

Pepe, meanwhile, is one of the most highly-rated attackers in France right now. The Ivory Coast winger has scored four goals in six Ligue 1 games for Lille, including a hat-trick against Amiens, and Mundo Deportivo claims that he is on Barcelona’s radar.

According to Le 10 Sport, Pepe is valued at around £30 million.
