Premier League outfit Southampton failed with an £8m bid for Birmingham City’s coveted Championship ace Adams.

Southampton have accepted defeat in their pursuit of the coveted Birmingham City striker Che Adams, according to The Mirror (live blog, 3.37pm).
Adams had emerged as a target for a number of Premier League sides after scoring 14 goals so far in the Championship, making the 2018/19 campaign comfortably the most prolific of his career to date.
The Mirror reported earlier in the week that Southampton had seen an initial bid of £8 million turned down with The Blues making it clear that they had no interest in letting their star man and top scorer leave St Andrews.
Adams is understood to be valued at £15 million.
And with a deal seemingly no closer, The Mirror adds that Southampton have all-but given up for now. But the saga is not over yet.

It is understood that The Saints are already planning to renew their interest in the former Sheffield United speedster in the summer – if they manage to avoid relegation from the Premier League that is.
Southampton are currently four points above the bottom three but they look a much better side under Ralph Hasenhuttl.
