Yussuf Poulsen’s Bundesliga displays for RB Leipzig could pave the way for a move to the Premier League with Everton or Newcastle United.
Under-fire Everton coach Marco Silva wants to revitalise his struggling front line with RB Leipzig forward Yussuf Poulsen, according to The Express, with Newcastle United also understood to be long-term admirers of the Danish international.
To say Poulsen came into his own last season would be an understatement.
Previously the hard-working foil for Timo Werner, the 6ft 4ins powerhouse showed that he could score goals as well as create them in an exceptional 2018/19 campaign. Poulsen scored 19 in all competitions, as many as his much-admired German international strike-partner.
And with Everton toiling in the final third once again during a shock 2-0 home defeat to Sheffield United on Saturday, the Express claims that Silva has ordered The Toffees to keep tabs on Poulsen over the next few months ahead of a potential move in the January transfer window.
Newcastle have apparently been fans of the 25-year-old for some time too and Poulsen, who combines the strength and hold up play of Joelinton with a composure in front of goal, could be exactly what a flightless Magpies side are looking for.
RB Leipzig were a third tier team when Poulsen joined from Lyngby in 2013 so, after six years, two promotions and even a few run-outs in the Champions League, he could be due a new challenge.
