Colombia ace Roger Martinez scored one of the Copa America’s best goals but will he be stunning the Premier League soon with Sheffield United?

Sheffield United have turned their attention to Colombia international Roger Martinez as the Blades continue to scour the market for a new centre-forward, as reported by El Deportivo.
Chris Wilder’s side have strengthened their squad effectively since securing promotion to the Premier League in May. By re-signing Phil Jagielka, they have a centre-half with proven Premier League quality while Callum Robinson and Luke Freeman will provide plenty of skill and creativity in wide areas.
Yet Sheffield United still don’t have a new number nine capable of putting away the chances laid on by Freeman, Robinson and co.
Links with Neal Maupay and Britt Assombalonga have dried up while, according to the BBC, they saw a £15 million bid for Swansea City’s Oli McBurnie rejected.
And, according to reports in South America, Sheffield United have now expressed an interest in signing a 25-year-old striker who plays for Club America in Mexico. Quite the departure from their usual transfer targets at Brentford, Middlesbrough and QPR.

Martinez, who played for Villarreal on loan from Jiangsu Suning in 2018, has scored 14 goals so far this season in the Mexican top flight. AS believes he’ll cost £13.5 million, a fee that would require Sheffield United to break their transfer record for the third time this summer.
He’d be be a risk, given that he struggled during his previous spell in Europe for Villarreal. But Sheffield United know that there is value to be found abroad – especially when the likes of Maupay and McBurnie will cost in excess of £20 million.
Martinez played for Colombia at this summer’s Copa America, scoring a stunning long-range goal in the group stage against Argentina.
