Ben Osborn is reportedly set to become the latest Championship star on his way to the Premier League with Chris Wilder’s newly-promoted Blades.
Nottingham Forest midfielder Ben Osborn is ‘poised’ to become Sheffield United’s fourth signing of the summer with the Star claiming that talks have progressed substantially over the weekend.
A locally-born 24-year-old who has risen through the ranks during 16 years at Forest, Osborn has made 230 appearances for the first-team since making his debut in the 2013/14 season.
So you’d think there would be plenty of furore surrounding his seemingly inevitable departure. Osborn, however, has never managed to win over many Forest supporters despite his versatility and his clear adoration for the two time European champions.
Nonetheless, Sheffield United clearly think highly of Osborn, even if some at the City Ground do not.
The Sun reported that The Blades had a £3 million bid rejected last week but talks are very much still ongoing. According to The Star, an agreement is now very close after positive negotiations over the last 48 hours.
Further talks will be held before Nottingham Forest’s pre-season clash against Burton Albion on Tuesday.
Premier League newcomers Sheffield United appear to be targeting some of the Championship’s brightest talents this summer, snapping up Callum Robinson and Luke Freeman with Neal Maupay and Oli McBurnie still on their radar.
