West Ham United look set to offer former Arsenal and Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri a fresh Premier League start under Manuel Pellegrini.

The prospect of Samir Nasri earning a contract at West Ham United looks more likely than ever.

The 31-year-old Frenchman has been training with The Hammers for the last few weeks as he looks to get his career back on track. Nasri has been without a club since being released by Antalyaspor 11 months ago and has served a doping ban for most of 2018.

And, seemingly inspired by the fact that Jack Wilshere is set for another prolonged period on the sidelines with an ankle injury, The Sun reports that West Ham are now set to offer Nasri a contract.

It is understood that the former Arsenal and Sevilla man will sign a £60,000 a week deal until the end of the season with an option for another two years should he rediscover his mercurial talents.

And The Sun has now identified the game where Nasri could make his West Ham debut – the FA Cup clash against Birmingham City at the London Stadium on January 5.

A home game against lower league opposition could be the ideal opportunity for Nasri to dip his toe back into English football after all, though it might take time for playmaker to find full match fitness.

A move to West Ham would see Nasri reunite with Manuel Pellegrini, who got the best out of him during a 2013/14 season at Manchester City. Nasri helped City win the Premier League title and scored a stunning volley in the EFL Cup final victory against Sunderland.

“Samir is working with us very well, he is reducing his weight,” Pellegrini told The Sun. “His mentality is to have a spot here in the squad so it is a decision we will make in the next days.”
