Carl Jenkinson is reportedly a target for Championship side Nottingham Forest after making just 41 Premier League appearances in almost a decade at Arsenal.

Carl Jenkinson’s potential move from Arsenal to Nottingham Forest will set the Championship club back just £2 million, according to Goal.

With just 48 hours left in the transfer window, Forest are running out of time to solve the last remaining problems in their squad.

And it seems that a right-back is one area that could do with some reinforcement. New manager Sabri Lamouchi seems determined to transform Matty Cash from a winger into a rampaging full-back but whether the academy graduate has the requisite defensive capabilities remains to be seen.

Tendayi Darikwa is far more experienced in the role but he does not appear to have won over Lamouchi, having featured sparsely throughout pre-season.

Jenkinson, then, would be both an upgrade and a natural in a key position. After eight years trying and failing to nail down a regular place in Arsenal’s first-team, Goal reports that Nottingham Forest are interested in a bargain £2 million deal for the boyhood Gunners fanatic.

It’s hard to believe Jenkinson is 27 years of age these days but he still has a lot to offer, even if injuries certainly took a toll on his progress in recent seasons.

If the former Charlton youngster finds his feet again, there’s no reason why he cannot stand out in the Championship.
