Christian Fuchs was expected to leave Leicester City and swap the Premier League for the MLS but Brendan Rodgers allegedly has another idea.
Leicester City are set to offer Christian Fuchs a new one-year deal as they look to keep the Austrian defender at the King Power Stadium beyond this summer, according to the Leicester Mercury.
Fuchs is one of the few Leicester players remaining from their 2016 Premier League title winning campaign and that legendary crop is set to be diminished further when both Shinji Okazaki and Danny Simpson leave at the end of the season.
The left-back is also out of contract and has been heavily tipped to make the switch to the MLS. Fuchs’ family currently live in Manhattan and the former Schalke defender has himself admitted that he is keen on plying his trade in America before he retires.
But, according to the Mercury, Brendan Rodgers wants to keep the 33-year-old around for another 12 months as he believes Fuchs’ experience could prove vital both on and off the pitch.
Whether Fuchs will accept Leicester’s offer remains to be seen. The 33-year-old has made just three Premier League appearances all season with Ben Chilwell firmly established as The Foxes’ first-choice left-back.
And, back in June, Fuchs told Goal that he wanted to prove himself in the United States while he still has time on his side.
