Raul Jimenez has averaged a goal every four Premier League games since moving to Wolverhampton Wanderers from Primeira Liga giants Benfica.

Raul Jimenez cannot even be considered a dark horse in the race for the Golden Boot this season but that does not mean Wolves’ centre-forward is not doing his job properly.

The Mexican international has scored just four times in 16 Premier League games but there is more to his game than putting the ball in the back of the net.

Jimenez has made himself essential to Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans with his intelligent link-play and work rate. The fact he has four assists to his name speaks volumes.

According to the Mirror (live blog, 11.29pm), Jimenez is proving to be hugely popular with his Wolves teammates, who are delighted with his impact and would love him to stay permanently once his loan spell from Benfica comes to an end.

Fortunately for Diogo Jota, Helder Costa and co, it seems there is real chance that Jimenez will be there for the long haul.

O Jogo reported last week that Wolves have already decided they want to keep the former Atletico Madrid man at Molineux, and are even willing to shatter their transfer record by paying £33 million to make the striker a permanent signing.
