Ryan Kent was omitted from Liverpool U23’s Premier League 2 clash on Monday but could he still return to Scotland with Steven Gerrard’s Rangers?

How many wingers does one team need? Well, according to Steven Gerrard, Rangers could do with one more.
According to the Daily Record, the Gers still haven’t given up hope of signing Ryan Kent from Liverpool before the end of August, despite the fact that Jordan Jones, Jake Hastie, Sheyi Ojo and Brandon Barker have all arrived at Ibrox this summer alone.
Kent was certainly a revelation at Rangers during a loan spell at the Glasgow giants in 2018/19, producing six goals and nine assists to win the SPFA Young Player of the Year award.
And despite weeks of intense speculation, the 22-year-old is still stuck at Anfield. Leeds United were reluctant to pay more than £5 million for the youngster and, with the English transfer window shut, Kent is now running out of options.
Tellingly, he was nowhere to be seen during Liverpool’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea’s U23 side on Monday night after seemingly hitting out at the Premier League runners-up on social media.

Fortunately, Rangers are still in the mix, although it seems that only a loan move would be possible with Liverpool demanding substantially more than £5 million.
Jurgen Klopp told the BBC earlier in the summer that Kent wouldn’t be leaving on a temporary basis again, but it seems that he might have to do some serious backtracking.
