Martin Braithwaite was left out by Tony Pulis as Boro drew 1-1 with Blackburn Rovers at the weekend.
Martin Braithwaite handed in a transfer request in an attempt to force a move away from Middlesbrough back in August, according to the BBC. And, six months later, it seems the Danish international could get his wish.
Braithwaite’s future is up in the air after he was omitted from the Boro squad for their 1-1 draw at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday with manager Tony Pulis, who chose youngster Marcus Tavernier in his place, critical of the forward’s performances both in matches and in training.
The Northern Echo reports that Braithwaite is expected to be allowed to leave in the January transfer window.
Although it is understood that Middlesbrough want to recoup the £9 million fee they paid Ligue 1 outfit Toulouse for his signature in the summer of 2017.
The 27-year-old was one of Boro’s top performers as Pulis’s side reached the Championship play-off semi-finals last season, but he has struggled to find the same form in recent months. Braithwaite has not scored a Championship goal since a 2-0 win against Bristol City back in August.
The Northern Echo has also claimed that Middlesbrough could listen to offers for £15 million record-signing Britt Assombalonga in the New Year.
