Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is reportedly keen to bring Ginter to the Premier League, having worked with him in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund.

Liverpool will have to pay £43 million to reunite Jurgen Klopp with Matthias Ginter this summer, according to TEAMtalk.

With Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren suffering with injuries of late, it seems that Klopp wants to add more depth to his back line before the start of next season. And Ginter has emerged as the top target in the last few days, with Calciomercato linking Germany’s youngest ever World Cup winner with a move to Anfield at the end of the season.

Ginter is a player Klopp knows well.

He was still in charge of Borussia Dortmund when the centre-back moved to the Signal Iduna Park form Freiburg in 2014 for a fee of £9 million, as reported by Goal.

Ginter struggled to establish himself at Dortmund but has been far more impressive in the colours of Borussia Monchengladbach, establishing himself as one of the Bundesliga’s more reliable centre-backs even if he did not show it during Saturday’s 5-1 home defeat to Bayern Munich.

TEAMtalk, however, reports that Ginter will cost £43 million. That would make him the club’s fourth most expensive player behind Naby Keita, Alisson Becker and his potential centre-back partner Virgil van Dijk.
