Filipe Luis wants a new contract at Atletico Madrid despite holding talks over a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to Goal.

The 33-year-old left-back has been tipped to follow Lucas Hernandez, Diego Godin and Antoine Griezmann out of the Wanda Metropolitano this summer with his deal set to expire at the end of June.

According to Goal, Wolves have discussed the possibility of bringing Luis back to the Premier League despite the fact that he struggled badly at Chelsea during a short-lived spell at Stamford Bridge in 2014/15.

The report has added however that the Brazil international is determined to enjoy at least one more season in the Spanish capital with Luis still a key player under Diego Simeone.

Luis, who has won six trophies with Atletico including the 2014 La Liga title and the Europa League 12 months ago, made 32 appearances for Los Colcheneros last season as they finished ahead of city rivals Real Madrid in the La Liga table.

First-team football would be far from guaranteed at Wolves, however, with Spanish international Jonny Castro Otto established as Nuno Espirito Santo’s go-to left-back.
