Alan Hutton, Tommy Elphick and Glenn Whelan all played a role as Aston Villa sealed a return to the Premier League after three seasons in the Championship.

Glenn Whelan, Alan Hutton and Tommy Elphick are all expected to leave Aston Villa this summer after the club were promoted to the Premier League, as reported by the Mirror (31 May, page 57).
After three years in the Championship, boyhood fan Dean Smith has lead Villa back to the big time at the first attempt with the Midland giants beating Derby County 2-1 in a tense play-off final at Wembley on Monday.
Aston Villa are now expected to spend big in order to prepare for the top flight, with the Mirror claiming they could pay a combined £22 million for loan stars Tyrone Mings and Anwar El Ghazi.
But three players who are unlikely to be wearing claret and blue next season are veteran trio Whelan, Hutton and Elphick.

They are all out of contract and Villa will apparently try to find replacements as they look to build a squad to compete in the Premier League.
Elphick made just 11 Championship starts for Villa last season but Hutton and Whelan were a big part of their promotion winning campaign, the latter starting in the play-off semi-final first leg against West Brom.
