Papy Djilobodji could have left League One Sunderland for Super Lig side Trabzonspor but his wage demands reportedly scuppered the move.

Papy Djilobodji’s Sunderland career ended on a sour note.
According to The Sun, the £8 million centre-back was sacked by the League One club after failing to return for pre-season training.
The report adds that Djilobodji, who was earning £30,000 a week as a Sunderland player and spent last season on loan at Dijon in France, failed every single fitness test after belatedly returning to Wearside. So it was little surprise when the Black Cats then moved to terminate a deal that still had two years left to run.
But this whole messy situation could have been avoided had Djilobodji managed to secure a move to Trabzonspor before the transfer window shut at the end of August.
Fanatik had stated in late August that the former Chelsea defender had agreed terms with Trabzonspor and was keen on a move to the Turkish Super Lig outfit.

But Takvim have since claimed that the move fell through due to his wage demands with Trabzonspor dramatically pulling out of the deal. Understandably, given that Djilobodji is now without a club, the defender reportedly regrets failing to sign on the dotted line with Trabzonspor.
Though it remains to be seen whether he will find a new club now that he’s a free agent.
