There is reportedly no going back for Rui Patricio at Sporting Lisbon, which means he could be heading to the Premier League with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Despite being linked with both Barcelona and Napoli in recent days, it seems that Wolverhampton Wanderers have won the race for one of Europe’s top goalkeepers.
The Express and Star claimed earlier this week that Wolves had agreed a deal to sign Sporting Lisbon’s number one Rui Patricio for a fee of £15.8 million, only for the transfer to fall through due to a disagreement between the Portuguese giants and Jorge Mendes’ Gestifute agency, who represent the 30-year-old shot-stopper.

It was understood that Wolves would make a new bid, however. The Mirror then claimed that Patricio was determined to leave the Estadio Jose Alvalade for Molineux this summer.
And, in latest reports provided by O Jogo, Patricio to Wolves is allegedly closer than ever.
Patricio is understood to have made a request to terminate his contract after Sporting’s training ground was reportedly stormed by a large, masked group last month which resulted in a number of players, including then manager Jorge Jesus, being attacked.

Friday was the last day for Patricio to withdraw that request. But O Jogo believes that ‘there is no going back’ and he is now heading to the Premier League with Wolves his destination.
Interestingly, if Patricio’s contract is terminated, Wolves will be able to sign him on a free, which would be a remarkable end to one of the summer’s most intriguing transfer sagas.
