Jose Mourinho’s long-serving assistant Rui Faria is reportedly about to arrive at Aston Villa with John Terry as his number two.

John Terry could well return to Aston Villa. But, if the Mirror is to be believed, the former club captain is not going to be their new manager.
Instead, Terry will be the assistant to his former Chelsea coach Rui Faria at Villa Park.
Faria is best known for being the long-serving number two to current Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, but he departed Old Trafford at the end of last season in an attempt to get his solo career off the ground.
The Mirror believes that Faria is now set to be given the Aston Villa job, thanks in part to the club’s links with his agent Jorge Mendes.
The 43-year-old worked alongside Mourinho for 17 years, winning the Champions League in his first year in football with FC Porto in 2003. He also worked at Chelsea twice, either side of spells at Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

But all this top level experience is no guarantee of success. Just look at struggling Reading manager Paul Clement, who has failed to prove himself in management after aiding Carlo Ancelotti at some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Thierry Henry was the apparent front-runner earlier in the week but, the Mirror adds, he is expected to return to former club Monaco with the 2017 Ligue 1 champions set to part company with Leonardo Jardim.
